Welcome to the 5th Base4NFDI newsletter!
Like the plants in spring, Base4NFDI is constantly growing. In the new issue of our bi-monthly newsletter, we once again have lots of interesting news about our basic services and updates on upcoming Base-relevant events and interesting resources to keep you informed and inspired.

Brief updates from the basic services

  • IAM4NFDI
    • The IAM4NFDI incubator process was introduced in a Base4NFDI internal NFDI Consortia Integration workshop. The goal was to present to the other Basic services how IAM manages the incubator cycles and to share guidelines on how the other basic services could potentially adapt this process.
    • The IAM team met for two days in Kaiserslautern in February to discuss the further harmonisation of Infrastructure Proxy and Edu-ID Proxy which are important building blocks for the NFDI stakeholders in the entire IAM4NFDI infrastructure.

    • The IAM4NFDI team will participate in the TIIME Unconference – 2-3 April (Reading, UK) with the topic „How to integrate NFDI-AAI with EOSC“.
  • TS4NFDI
    • Initial developments for the TS4NFDI Service Portal have been started and the core functionalities and requirements have been discussed.
    • The incubation phase has begun. First meetings took place.
    • Implementation of the FAIR-IMPACT MOD-API to ensure seamless interoperability with existing services within EOSC.
    • Legal aspects of TS4NFDI operations discussed with Neelam Vishen, Service Steward for Data protection & anonymisation.
  • PID4NFDI
    • Start of Integration phase in January with 2 new team members! Successful Kick-offs with Base (30 Jan) and internally (24 Feb).
    • Reactivation of PID WG of section-infra – the WG meetings turned into monthly open consultation hours for NFDI PID topics and issues. Next on 28 April. Feel free to join and bring your PID-related questions! Zoom links will be sent via their mailinglist or send your inquiry in advance via the PID4NFDI helpdesk!
    • Presentation of Initialisation phase results in next section-infra meeting on April 14.
    • PID4NFDI will host two workshops in mid-September, focusing on the lifecycle-oriented integration of PIDs in ELNs and DMPs.     • The team invites everyone interested from NFDI to participate in and contribute to a dedicated focus group, especially if they regularly work with DMPs and their integration in technical systems and infrastructure and/or issues of metadata in DMPs.     • PID4NFDI is now on Mastodon, Bluesky & LinkedIn.
  • KGI4NFDI
  • DMP4NFDI
    • DMP survey addressing people involved in the creation, use, or training on DMPs, SMPs or RDMO. Will take 15-20 minutes, open until 13 April. Thank you for your participation!
    • Service Cooperation Model published! First step to SLAs. Will be continuously worked on with the NFDI consortia.
    • DMP4NFDI website now online! Get in touch with the team via their helpdesk.
    • Integration proposal submitted on 22 January. Decision of Consortia Assembly on 4 April.
  • Jupyter4NFDI
    • The results of the user survey have been made available at a report. Results can also be viewed interactively through the Jupyter service.
    • The project is in discussions with several other Base services regarding potential collaboration during the integration phase. In particular, these are nfdi.software, TS4NFDI, PID4NFDI, KG4NFDI.
  • nfdi.software
    • The team has created a short survey to get insights about different software marketplaces, metadata standards and how research software is published and distributed in different consortia. About 110 survey participations will be analysed by the end of March.
    • nfdi.software has met with Jupyter4NFDI for common visions and further collaborations. Further collaborations are settled with NFDI4Biodiversity and KGI4NFDI.

  • RDMTraining4NFDI
    • RDMTraining team is now complete and started their work. The team is reachable via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
    • Successful kick-off meeting with Base4NFDI on 25 February.
    • The team is in close exchange with the section EduTrain, actively engaging in AP2 and AP5.
    • RDMT4NFDI is now on Mastodon.
